About the artwork
This painting has been all over the word - literally!
Originally, I was inspired by the game of Clue - I love that game - and Miss Scarlet. Who doesn't want to be Miss Scarlet when they grow up? I love the billiard room. My grandfather owned a bar and my family used to gather at it after church on Sundays. The sound of billiard balls brings back happy childhood memories.
Life can be like the game of Clue sometimes. We find ourselves trying to guess who did what, where, and how. Don't we?
This painting was a part of a prestigious exhibition at the VMRC - Virginia Menonite Retirement Community. You read that right. In Harrisonburg, VA there is an exclusive art exhibit at an adult community (you don't have to be Menonite to live there) each year. It's really competitive to be juried in. Then is was at a few Northern Virginia venues before heading to WaterWorks Art Museum in central MT. There it was juried into the Subjective Perspectives Annual show, and received an honorable mention! AND, it was one of just a dozen pieces selected to be in the traveling exhibit that toured art galleries in rural Montana for over a year.
