me is Debra Torres & I am a Scandinavian Trompe L’oeil artist that started as a portrait artist. I really enjoy painting old master portraits in a Trompe L’oeil setting. I think Trompe L’oeil works for me because I literally paint Inch by inch, it’s how I see. My very favorite old masters are Adolphe William Bouguereau & William M. Harnett. I have studied under many excellent artist, including an internship with Kenneth M Freeman. My medium is oil & I paint on smooth surfaces like panels so I can get more detail, especially when painting tiny portraits. And it’s really nice to be acknowledged by winning awards like Best of Show, Best Trompe L’oeil & Chairman’s Award.
