Bio

Jose Hector Alvarenga was born in El Salvador in 1974.  His love for drawing started when he was seven years old.  He started taking some oil painting classes when he was 21 years old and has continued to paint since then.  He has been mostly self taught and has taken workshops and classes online and in person from time to time.  He likes to paint highly detailed still lifes and trompe l´oeil paintings.   His painting are full of stories that might have humor, nostalgia, symbolism,  motivation or reflection.  He has received many awards with the Torrance Artists´ Guild in the “Small Treasure” category and has participated in the Affordable Art Fair in New York and “The Meam Hall” at the European Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona.  His works are in private collections in the United States, Canada, Mexico and El Salvador.   He lives and works between San Salvador and Inglewood, CA.
