Kathleen’s primary discipline is watercolor and she also paints in oil. Her realistic portrayal of everyday life has won her many awards. She is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, the Transparent Watercolor Society, American Women Artists, Women In Watercolor, the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society and Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society. She is Master signature member of the National Watercolor Society. The artist is a member of the Watercolor USA Honor Society, the International Guild of Realism and an elected member of the Allied Artists of America. The artist teaches online, serves as an art show juror, sells pre-recorded videos and travels to teach watercolor workshops around the country.  

“I am drawn to subjects that are filled with color and dramatic lighting. They can be beautiful but often have an underlying story. My work captures a moment in time. I strive to draw the viewer into my visual narrative and to create an emotional response. For me, realism is the best way to do that.”

2024 :   Work accepted to date:

Kathleen had two paintings included in the publication “Splash 25”, the best of Watercolor

2023:   

Kathleen’s work was featured in Watercolor Artist Magazine’s article on self portraiture.

“Life is Having A Spark of Hope” won an award in Pennsylvania Watercolor Society’s online show. It also won the 2D Watercolor Award in American Women Artists show. It also won an award in the Philadelphia Watercolor Society show, 2022.

“Tears for Ukraine” won the 4th place in the International invitational, the Fabriano prize. It won the FWSD Award in ARC Salon show, it won an award in the Women in Watercolor show and the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society. 

“End of the Day” won the Allied Artists of America award in the fall Allied Artists show.

Paintings accepted into; Watercolor International in Thessaloniki, Greece, Fabriano International in Bologna, Italy, National Watercolor Society (Received Master Signature Staus) Women in Watercolor, Fallbrook American All Signature Watercolor show,  International Guild of Realism, Signature Watermedia International in Fallbrook California and National Watercolor Society and Transparent Watercolor Society. 

2022: 

Kathleen was one of the presenters in “Watercolor Live” with students from 130 countries. 

“Vanity” was one of the top 50 paintings in the “View of Self” competition by the Portrait  Society of America. 

“Life is Feeling Boxed In “won the Bronze award at the American Watercolor Show. 

Two paintings published in Splash 2022, The Best of Watercolor. 

“A Certain Something” won 2nd place in the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society’s online show. 

Article in Realism Today online newsletter.

2021:    

Won the Grand Prize in the International Artist’s Magazine for “Perfect Peony”

“Life Is Looking For Crayfish” won the first place purchase award (Kathleen’s second tinme to win) in the National Watercolor Show. 

“The World Fades Away” won the Kent Day Coes award in the Allied Artists 108th Exhibition. 

Kathleen was did a live demo on the Eric Rhodes podcast, Art School Live. So far in 2024, it has over 57,000 views.

Work featured in Watercolor Artist Magazine’s article “The Best Watercolors of 2021.

Painting included in Splash 23 publication, The Best of Watercolor.

“Soulful Eyes” won an award in the Baltimore Mid-Atlantic Regional.

“Life is Fragile” was a finalist in the Arc Salon competition.
