About the artwork

Rusted Lace #8 (32.375” x 43”/82 x 109cm) © 2020-2024 Jean M. Judd/Artists Rights Society (ARS) New York Hand Stitched Thread on Hand Dyed Rust Pigmented Textile **Available for Purchase - $17,250** Rusted Lace #8 is the continuation of the ongoing Rusted Lace series. The ground is a whole cloth textile that has been hand dyed using turquoise, fuchsia and yellow dyes in varying levels of intensity to create a smoky chartreuse. Examining the piece from a distance and closely reveals arcs, rays, crystal, and ice-like shapes resulting from the dyeing process. Scientific iron filings and butcher paper were used to rust the custom design onto the ground creating many different shapes and images. Dense hand stitching echoing the rusted design, creates the auxiliary design, shadow and light play across the artwork using golden yellow and teal colored thread in the background and rust colored thread on the rusted design. The detail image of the back of the artwork as well as the close-up image shows the extensive stitching at its best along with the flow of colors across the textile. The artwork is designed to be displayed in either a horizontal or vertical orientation which allows for versatility in displaying the artwork spatially and visually. **Contact Artist for relevant shipping charges to Buyer's location.**
