Abstract Textures 1.1 (27” x 41.75”/ 69 x 107cm) (c) 2011-2014 Jean M. Judd/Artists Rights Society (ARS) New York Hand Stitched Thread on Hand Painted Textile In 2011 a new direction began with this series, Abstract Textures, when I began to paint with dye using foam brushes. These abstract, whole cloth pieces are densely hand stitched to add visual as well as physical texture using a swirled or wave-like design. Each artwork is designed to be hung in either a vertical or horizontal orientation which gives it great versatility in display options as well as changing the dynamic of the piece each time it is rotated.
