About the artwork

Abstract Textures 1.4 (34.5” x 42.5”/ 86 x 107cm) (c) 2011-2014 Jean M. Judd/Artists Rights Society (ARS) New York Hand Stitched Thread on Hand Painted Textile Abstract Textures 1.4 continues the undulating spiral and wave forms found in the first three pieces of the series. Orange, fuchsia and black are the predominant colors until you get up close and then you see bits of lemon yellow and green as well. Whole cloth construction with hand brushed dyes created the basis for the artwork. Dense hand stitching created the visual and physical texture that is evident even in the photography. This design creates movement and flow into and out of the artwork. This series is where I first began to experiment using a “paint with dye” format. I used foam brushes to create my canvas for textural hand stitching. Installation of this piece can be in either a vertical or horizontal orientation which really opens the display options for this work. Merging this artwork with any or all the other pieces in the series creates a very interesting contemporary artwork with infinite shape possibilities. The back of the artwork shows the incorporated hanging system that just needs the accompanying wood slat inserted and it is ready to hang from any gallery system or with just two nails. **Contact artist for relevant shipping charges to Buyer's location**
