Judd/Artists Rights Society (ARS) New York Hand Stitched Thread on Hand Dyed Textile Sound Waves #8: Flowing is moving away from the static graphic lines earlier in the series and morphing into abstract pools and splotches of color. Now the sound waves are flowing in tight mechanical waves like isobars shown on a weather map depicting wind speeds. Turquoise, yellow, and fuchsia are the dominating colors in this piece with subtle nuances of truffle brown and pink. Undulating waves and tight isobars of hand stitched thread in Sangria red and Chartreuse, create interesting shadows and light play across the artwork. The image showing the back of the artwork highlights the extensive, detailed stitching. A close-up image of the front of the work shows the abstracted images that flow out of the color from the dye interactions with the fabric and the shadow/light play created by the stitching.
